Timber Framing

Examples of timber framing designed and constructed by Oak Point Wood Works.
This project is a combination of solids and 1X wraps. Peak of celing in this great room is 34 feet! Detail showing support structure for the arch. 4X and 6X cedar installed prior to masonry. Timbers are installed so that the outside edge of the timbers will be flush with the masonry. Image shows the scale of the 5 arches that were built and installed in the following pictures These 8X segmented arches were installed after drywall. Rake beams and center beam are 1X wraps. View of the same 5 trusses as in the previous picture look from the reverse angle.
Fully suspended truss and arch installed after drywall. Front porch 12X timber framing installed during framing. Arch and corbels are made from 8X cedar. Here is a timber frame addition to a home in Flower mound. For covered portion, we tied into the existing roof line. Shows work prior to paint (yes, the home owner selected gray paint). Another angle showing the open end of the patio cover. You can also see the arbors we built across the entire back of the house. Garage trellis is made from 8X12 main beams and 4X12 "Rafters". Metal brackets that hold 8X12 beams were also designed and built by OPWW. This is an example of timber framing that is installed after the house is framed. Posts and corner brackets are solids, beam is 2X cedar wrap. Shutters, railing and brackets at the garage shed roof were also built and installed by OPWW.
